Flatbed truck crashes into Euless vet clinic after brake malfunction
A flatbed truck that had been parked at a Euless QuikTrip had an apparent brake malfunction Friday afternoon, causing it to roll across Harwood Road and into the front of a veterinary clinic.
The truck, rolling backward, went about halfway into the Harwood Road Pet Hospital in the 1000 block of West Harwood Road, causing extensive damage, Euless fire Chief Wes Rhodes said.
One employee in the clinic suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. No pets were injured.
A vet was performing surgery on a dog when the crash happened but was able to complete the surgery, Rhodes said. Grapevine firefighters were called to the scene to help brace the building.
Rhodes estimated that the truck rolled 75-100 yards from the QuikTrip parking lot, traveling across Harwood Road, over several curbs and into the vet clinic. The driver of the truck told authorities that he had placed the truck in park.
Officials were still investigating, Rhodes said.
