Football
A retirement ceremony for legendary Trinity head football coach Steve Lineweaver will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity High School gymnasium.
The program will include several speakers and the presentation to Lineweaver of a book of letters assembled by the football team's booster club. The event is hosted by the Euless Tongan Community Committee.
Boys Soccer
The L.D. Bell and Trinity boys soccer teams finished fifth and sixth respectively in District 7-6A competition and wrapped their seasons last Friday.
Each team had two wins in district, with Bell taking a one-point advantage in the final standings over Trinity by virtue of two ties and seven losses compared to Trinity's one tie and eight losses.
The teams battled in a realigned district this season that didn't make anything easier for the school-district rivals, as it introduced powerhouses Coppell and Southlake Carroll, along with a strong program in Richland, into a district that also retained a tough foe in Colleyville Heritage.
This season, Coppell, Heritage, Carroll and Haltom took the four playoff spots.
Baseball
Though its first week of district play was disrupted by rain, the Trojans baseball team started strong, defeating Colleyville Heritage 6-0 last Tuesday in its 7-6A opener. Trinity's Mark Geisel nearly threw a perfect game, and he and Riley King combined for three doubles. Between district and non-district play, the Trojans enter this week with a 9-1 record.
This week, the Trojans are scheduled to face Haltom at home and on the road. The team visits Haltom at 7 p.m. Tuesday and hosts Haltom at the same time on Friday.
Bell also had its Friday game postponed due to rain after losing its district opener last Tuesday to Coppell, 3-0. Last Friday's rematch with the Cowboys has been rescheduled to Monday at 7 p.m.
That will spell a busy week for the Blue Raiders, who also are scheduled to play two against Richland this week. Tuesday's game is 7 p.m. at Bell, and Friday's is the same time at Richland. Bell is 7-5 overall.
Softball
The Lady Blue Raiders softball team managed to play a pair of games last week before rain moved into the area, defeating Richland 3-2 on Monday in a make-up game and getting a big 14-0 victory against Trinity on the following day.
Friday's game against Colleyville Heritage was postponed and has been rescheduled for Monday. Bell was also forced to reschedule a Saturday make-up game against Coppell to noon this Saturday at Coppell. It could make for a four-game week for the Lady Raiders, who were also scheduled to visit Haltom at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The Lady Trojans were scheduled to play at Southlake Carroll at 6 p.m. Monday, host Coppell at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday and visit Richland at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
