Motorist dies after being hit by vehicle on Bedford highway
An Irving woman critically injured Saturday when she was hit by a vehicle on a highway has died at a local hospital, police said Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as Alana Cook, 31, who died Monday morning at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Tuesday.
Her two children who were with her were not injured late Saturday after the wreck on Texas 183 near the Central Drive exit.
According to police, Cook was standing in the 2300 block of Airport Freeway next to her disabled vehicle, when another vehicle traveling in the westbound lane of the freeway struck the disabled vehicle. The disabled vehicle then careened into Cook who was standing on the freeway shorty before 7:45 p.m. Saturday, police said.
No one has been arrested, but an investigation continued Tuesday.
