Yo-yo, top spinning at Bedford Library
First- through sixth-graders in Hurst will get a new spin on life from 2 to 3 p.m. June 7 when Val Oliver visits the Hurst Public Library's Wow! Wednesday program.
Oliver is the co-owner of Science of Spin Inc. and is the group's lead presenter. She's been active in the toy industry for more than 20 years. Oliver is the founder of the Lone Star Spinners Club in Dallas/Fort Worth and is a champion yo-yo and top-spinning competitor.

Bedford Splash hosts Flick ‘N Float movie night
What could be better than a warm summer night, a cool pool and a great movie? Bedford Splash will present the Disney film Moana during the Flick 'N Float at Bedford Splash event on June 9 at the water park, 2801 Forest Ridge Drive.
The gates open at 8:30 p.m., and the movie starts at 9. So bring your clear inflatables and your pool noodles. The movie is included with the price of admission. For more information, visit www.bedfordtx.gov
Colleyville Fire Department Kids Camp
When asked what they want to be when they grow up, many kids say, "firefighter." The Colleyville Fire Department's Kids Camp will give children a hands-on opportunity to learn about being a firefighter during the weeklong camp June 12-16.
The camp will be held at the Colleyville Central Fire Station, 5209 Colleyville Blvd.
Kids will learn from real firefighters about the day-to-day skills needed to be a firefighter. They also will discover team-building skills and a sense of personal responsibility. For registration, and more information about the camp, go to colleyville.com.
