Police report: Man fatally shoots himself in restroom at Bedford Police Department

A 68-year-old man fatally shot himself Thursday afternoon in a restroom at the Bedford Police Department, police said in a news release.

The man had arrived at the lobby and asked a worker for a pen and a piece of paper. He then went into a single-stall family restroom in the lobby, and police employees heard a loud noise, the news release said.

Officers found the man dead of a gunshot wound inside the restroom.

He was later identified as Jerald Karlich of Bedford, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner.

The incident appeared to be a isolated, the news release said.
