Fire damages North Richland Hills apartment complex
Adults and children escaped serious injuries as they scrambled out of apartments in a building that caught fire Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
No injuries were reported. About 15 adults and children were forced out of their homes by the fire at the Diamond Loch Apartments in the 6100 block of Glenview Drive.
Fire officials say they believe that the blaze started in an attic, but the cause is still under investigation.
The call from the complex came into the Fire Department shortly before 1 p.m., and firefighters extinguished the blaze in less than 30 minutes.
“Two apartments suffered heavy damage,” Assistant Fire Chief Kyle McFee said Wednesday. “Six others probably had smoke damage.”
At least 22 people lived in the apartments that sustained fire and smoke damage, fire officials said, but only 15 were at home Wednesday afternoon.
