Westlake Decoration Day
Westlake will keep with its tradition of honoring men and women who lost their lives in service to the nation, with it's annual Decoration Day from 6-8 p.m., May 29, at Westlake IOOF Cemetery, 3101 Ottinger Rd.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets then enjoy the music, free hot dogs, ice cream and the Dutch oven cobblers prepared by Boy Scout Troop 170.
Festivites will move indoors in case of rain to Westlake Academy’s Multi-Purpose Hall at 2600 J. T. Ottinger Road. For more information visit www.westlake-tx.org/
Graduation season
High school graduations for the Class of 2017 are set for this week.
Keller school district’s four comprehensive high schools have commencement ceremonies on May 27 at College Park Center on the campus of the University of Texas-Arlington: Timber Creek High School at 8 a.m., Central at noon, Fossil Ridge at 4 p.m. and Keller at 8 p.m. Attendees must have a ticket from a graduate. The graduations will be streamed live online at www.KellerISD.net/GraduationLive.
Northwest school district’s graduations will be held May 30 at the University of North Texas Coliseum in Denton: Byron Nelson High School at 3 p.m. and Northwest High School at 7 p.m.
Summer Nights
Music and movies in the great outdoors begin June 1 as Keller Summer Nights kick off the June series.
Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, a picnic and the family every Thursday in June for an evening of free music and movies under the stars behind Keller Town Hall. The fun begins at 7 p.m., with the concert at around 7:30 and the movie at about 9 p.m. The first week’s lineup is the band Aurora Bleu and the movie “Moana.” Food trucks and other vendors will be on site.
