Motorist arrested in hit-and-run case that left women injured on sidewalk

A motorist accused of failing to stop after injuring two women on a sidewalk last month surrendered to police Wednesday morning.

Police identified the suspect as Richard Gledhill, 46, of Flower Mound.

He faces a felony charge of failure to stop and render aid, police said.

Gledhill is accused of driving his car onto a sidewalk and crashing into two women outside a Gloria’s Latin Cuisine restaurant.

The incident happened about 1 p.m. Oct. 15 in the 3700 block of Justin Road.

Suirveillance video released by police shows the driver of a Kia Optima pull into a parking space and then continue going forward, driving toward two women sitting on a bench. In a news release, police said the driver accelerated after jumping the curb.

Both women were injured and were later released from a hospital.

After the crash, the man got out of his car, but then left without providing assistance.

Gledhill was in the Flower Mound Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail.
