Grapevine-Colleyville schools have 19 National Merit Semifinalists

Nineteen Grapevine-Colleyville school district seniors have been named 2017 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

The National Merit Semifinalists from Colleyville Heritage High School are: Matthew Abron, Ali Ashai, Chloe Ayers, Harrison Camperlengo, Matthew Gaughan, Isabel Nackley, Ishan Navendra, Austin Nguyen, Michael Nie, Seyun Park, Garret Wezniak and Justin Yan.

Grapevine High Schools Semifinalists are: Matthew Bitner, Lauren Edwards, Shannon Goad, Andrew Lastinger, Carson Taylor,

Anastasia Walton and Cassandra Wouters.

Of the 1.6 million high school juniors who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last year, about 16,000 are selected as Semifinalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

Half the Semifinalists will become National Merit Scholars and, after another screening, will be named in late spring and early summer.
