Teen who left scene faces charges in Lewisville traffic death
A suspected hit-and-run driver has been found and the motorist faces a charge in the Sunday hit-and-run death of a 45-year-old man, police said Wednesday.
Acting on a tip, police found the 16-year-old Tuesday night at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Fox Avenue.
The victim was Jose Vazquez-Munoz of Lewisville, who died at a hospital after the auto-pedestrian accident on Sunday night, officials said.
“The teen was interviewed Tuesday night,” police Sgt. Paul Barron said Wednesday in a telephone interview.
The suspect’s name is not being released because she is a juvenile. She faces a charge of delinquent conduct/accident involving personal injury or death, police said.
Police responded to a major accident call about 8:40 p.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Texas 121 Business.
Vazquez-Munoz was hit in the southbound lane of the highway, police said.
Witnesses and video surveillance from nearby businesses confirmed that he was hit by a Ford F-150 crew-cab pickup with tinted windows.
The truck stopped for about 10 seconds and fled, police said.
