Pedestrian killed on North Richland Hills highway
A Hurst man was killed Tuesday night when he attempted to cross Boulevard 26, police said.
The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Luther Norton, 49, of Hurst. Norton was pronounced dead at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth shortly after the accident.
Patrol officers responded to a major accident call at about 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 6000 block of Precinct Line Road.
Norton had been at a nearby restaurant as was trying to cross the highway, police said.
A westbound car on the highway driven by a 25-year-old man hit the Hurst man and stopped. Norton was wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident, police said.
The motorist was not injured and was released at the scene. Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the fatal crash.
No charges are expected to be filed, said police Sgt. Ed Wright.
