Two injured in wreck on Airport Freeway in Haltom City
A wrong-way driver crashed into another vehicle on Airport Freeway in Haltom City early Wednesday, seriously injuring the motorists and shutting highway lanes, police said.
Police had not determined how long the driver had been going the wrong way on the freeway before colliding with the other vehicle. The wreck was reported about 5 a.m. in the 6800 block of Airport Freeway.
The wrong-way driver was headed north in the southbound lanes when he hit the other vehicle near Minnis Drive. The wrong-way driver and the other motorist, also a male, were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The other driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Authorities had not released the name of the wrong-way driver.
Police continued to investigate.
The southbound lanes were closed for more than three hours Wednesday morning as authorities investigated the wreck.
