Art in the Square kicks off this month

Art in the Square is not until late April, but festivities kick off this month.

Organizers will host the Art in the Square kick-off event, Strokes of Art in the Square, at 5 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Southlake Town Hall foyer.

Art from this year’s Art in the Square featured artist will be displayed and stay in Town Hall for two months to allow visitors to vote for the festival’s People’s Choice winner. There will be a ballot box in the building’s lobby, but those interested can vote for their favorite at artinthesquare.com.

“Art in the Square is here for a weekend, by having the artists ship us these paintings we are extending the time to allow the community several months to enjoy the art,” Terri Messing Apex Arts League chairwoman said.

During the hour-and-a-half kick-off event there will be live music and food and wine pairings. The event is free and open to the public.
