Green: Lunch with the Girlz to start the year with fun, fashion

Well, 2015 seems to be the year of changes in the fundraising world.

The Colleyville Woman’s Club’s annual fashion show and luncheon benefit, “Lunch with the Girlz,” is slated for March 20 at the Hurst Conference Center, located at 1601 Campus Drive in Hurst.

The show will not only celebrate the event’s 30th anniversary, but will do so with a couple of changes.

This year’s event chair, Tammy Nakamura, has chosen producer Rhonda Sargent Chambers of RSC Show Productions, who will be co-producing the fashion show with Dillard’s at North East Mall.

Showcasing the theme, the glamor of Audrey Hepburn, attendees will enjoy fashions that not only reflect the current looks and styles from the major fashion houses but also fashions that are wearable by women of any size and age.

Along with the professional models, community models will be walking the catwalk as well.

A video will feature photos from the past 30 years of this premier luncheon.

Returning this year is the popular Dine & Dash where, for a nominal amount, guests can draw for gift certificates to local restaurants.

Two new auction aspects will make their debut this year. One, the Treasure Chest, which although the concept itself isn’t new, the sponsor, Eiseman Jewels located in NorthPark Center, is. Attendees may purchase a raffle ticket for $100 for a key that gives them a chance to open the Treasure Chest where gifts range in value from $250 to $3,500.

The second new aspect is the Experience Board, where guests can bid on a variety of exciting trips and adventures.

Individual tickets are $75 and tables of 10 are available for $750 for silver, $1,000 for gold, $1,500 for platinum and $2,000 for elite.

More information and reservations can be found by heading to the Colleyville Women’s Club website, www.c-w-c.org, then clicking on “Spring Fashion Benefit” under the “events” tab.

Over the past 37 years, amazing women have raised more than $3.3 million for our community charitable organizations. That in itself deserves applause in my book!
