Colleyville Woman’s Club seeks youth volunteers
Colleyville Woman’s Club wants is accepting nominations through Feb. 20 for the Youth Service Volunteers awards.
“It's a fantastic way to recognize the youth in our community and many of them start a very young age,” said Karen Deakin, Youth Recognition chairperson.
This is the 20th time the organization has awarded local youth for their volunteering service. There are four separate awards given which includes some scholarship prizes.
Deakin said this year the club plans to award $8,000 in scholarships.
For the Youth Service Award the group seeks children ages 5-19 who have donated their time to help their local community. Nominees must live in Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Grapevine, Haltom City, Hurst, Keller, North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Southlake or Wataugal or attend Birdville ISD, Carroll ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, HEB ISD or Keller ISD. Those living in the acceptable cities can attend private or home schools.
Other awards are limited only to high school seniors from specific schools.
“We look for leadership, the impact in community they have made, the amount of service — they can only list their high school service hours — and the uniqueness of the service project just to name a few,” said Deakin.
Those interested in submitting a nomination can call the Woman’s Club at 817-358-1805 or visit its website at c-w-c.org for the Youth Award Nomination Form.
