Euless ranks No. 18 on ‘Best Places to Live’ list

This isn’t news to residents, but Money magazine has discovered that Euless is a pretty cool place to call home.

On its annual list of “Best Places to Live in America,” Money editors and writers ranked Euless No. 18 for cities with populations between 50,000 and 300,000.

The magazine looks at reams of data to determine the city’s quality of life to determine the rankings.

Highlights for Euless were its diversity, schools, small-town spirit, library programs, parks and the city’s crown jewel — Texas Star Golf Course.

Euless’s neighbor to the south, Arlington, was one of the six best cities (over 300,000) in the United States to enjoy urban living “at a price you can afford.”

Arlington won “Best City in the South” honors. Cities in other regions to make the distinguished list were: Boston; Raleigh, N.C.; Columbus, Ohio; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Portland, Ore.

New programs in place at Bedford’s YMCA

Bedford’s Airport Area YMCA is launching new programs for toddlers and their parents, and for cancer survivors.

The Toddler Time helps prepare children for pre-school and kindergarten by teaching them social skills such as learning how to pay attention, sit at a table with others and work on crafts and other projects. Parents are encouraged to attend the classes with their toddlers. The Toddler Time classes are held at 9:30 a.m. Fridays. The first session has already started, but more classes will be offered in November.

The Airport Area Y is also offering the LiveStrong at the YMCA program for cancer survivors. The 12-week program focuses on exercise and provides time for participants to discuss their struggles with cancer with other survivors.

For more information about the new programs, contact the Airport Area YMCA, 3524 Central Drive, at 817-571-3371.
