Sibling rivalry is taken to a whole new level when you are twin brothers playing for one of the best 5A football programs in the state, and Gervon and Germon Thothion understand that very well.

The Thothion brothers are two of the best offensive players for the Panthers this season, and coach Joe Willis said that there is definitely a rivalry.

“There is no doubt that these two guys compete against the other, and they are aware of who is getting the praises for accomplishment,” Willis said. “Each one thinks he holds and edge on the other.”

Germon said that he and his brother do support each other, but said that a rivalry exists between them that carries over beyond football.

“It’s kind of funny,” Germon said. “We are always having competitions, where whoever does not do as well has to clean the kitchen or wash the other one’s clothes. We have competitions on the field that we bring to the house.”

Gervon finished last season with more than 600 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns and was a second team all-district selection. The Panthers running back/defensive back said that he tries to be a good example to his teammates and keep a positive attitude on the field.

“I try to bring energy and power and to be a good example to other people, while strengthening myself,” Gervon said. “I also try to build my body up and help guys to push my teammates to be the best they can be in the weight room and on the field.”

Gervon said that while he and Germon are competitive, he loves being able to play on the same team as his brother.

“I wouldn’t want to play with anybody else but him,” Gervon said. “It keeps us very close, because we are always playing together and it keeps our family close together. We’ve always been close because we’re twins.”

Germon, who had 111 yards receiving and a touchdown in the Panthers’ Week 2 victory over Frisco Heritage, said that he also likes the idea of building team chemistry and does what he can to help foster that.

“I want everyone to know that I’m here for them no matter what,” Germon said. “I try to help make it like a family and help lead the team down the right path to a state championship.”
