A Godley school board member says a woman who is allegedly involved in a prostitution racket illegally obtained one of her private photos and used it in an attack against her.

Kayla Lain, who was elected to the Godley school board in 2023, said she was among the first to publicly accuse Ashley Ketcherside of being involved in prostitution. Ketcherside and her husband, Michael Ketcherside, were arrested this month, along with former Godley police chief Matthew Cantrell and former police officer Solomon Omotoya, on charges that included racketeering and promoting, engaging in and soliciting prostitution.

Lain said after she made her allegations against Ashley Ketcherside, a photo of her mysteriously showed up on Facebook and a number of websites. The photo, which depicts Lain in a partially unbuttoned shirt, was one Lain said she sent her husband electronically. It was never posted publicly, said Lain, and someone would have to access her or her husband’s image library on one of their devices to obtain it.

On a Facebook page displaying Lain’s photo, an anonymous poster called it “explicit” and tried using the photo to paint Lain in an unflattering light while complimenting Ashley Ketcherside.

Lain long suspected Ashley Ketcherside was the one who posted the photo, but she couldn’t figure out how she’d gotten it. When the Ketchersides were arrested with the two former police officers, Lain said it all made sense.

She believes Cantrell or Omotoya used police powers to gain access to her or her husband’s photos. They did this, Lain said, to try and dig up dirt on her at the behest of one or both of the Ketchersides.

Ashley Ketcherside, a mother of three, formerly served on a committee to establish sex education curriculum for the Godley school district. She was removed from that position in 2023 after it was revealed she had twice been convicted of prostitution. Ketcherside did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Cantrell and Omotoya could not be reached for comment.

Lain was part of a group of concerned residents who went to Godley Superintendent Rich Dear with information about Ketcherside’s prior convictions and evidence indicating Ketcherside was still involved in prostitution. That evidence included a profile on an escort website.

According to Lain, she asked Godley police to investigate Ketcherside, but nothing was done. Lain shared with the Star-Telegram an email one of her associates sent Cantrell asking him to look into Ketcherside’s activities.

In addition to her, Lain said Travis Spencer, a YouTube personality who worked with Lain to campaign against a Godley school district bond, was targeted by Ketcherside.

Spencer told the Star-Telegram someone found and posted personal information about him and his family and made threatening phone calls to him, and he suspects it was someone in Godley.

Lain said she spoke to Johnson County District Attorney Timothy Good in March about her allegations. That was shortly before the Ketchersides, Cantrell and Omotoya were arrested. But Lain believes others were involved in the alleged prostitution scheme, and she thinks more arrests will come. Until then, she said she still fears retaliation from those in the community who have aligned themselves with the Ketchersides.

The district attorney’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

“I’m still kind of watching my back a little bit,” said Lain. “But I trust the DA to look under every rock.”

Law enforcement raided the Ketchersides’ home on March 31. According to an arrest affidavit, investigators found a phone Ashley Ketcherside used to conduct a prostitution business with her husband’s help. The affidavit said there was also evidence Omotoya had offered to babysit the Ketchersides’ children or perform yard work in exchange for sex with Ashley Ketcherside.
