Two men died and a firefighter was hospitalized after a car crash near downtown Fort Worth late Thursday morning, police said.

Officers and fire crews responded to the scene of the crash near 1940 Delga St. at around 11:28 a.m., according to a statement.

There, officers found that a moving car had struck a parked vehicle and continued a short distance before stopping. A passenger in the moving car was found dead; the driver died at the scene, police said.

During the investigation, fire crews found a “large amount of an unknown chemical” inside the vehicle that had been moving. One firefighter was taken to a hospital to be treated for possible exposure to the chemical, according to the statement.

Detectives with the department’s Traffic Investigations Unit are investigating. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victims and determine the cause of death.
