1 dead, 1 injured in late-night Watauga house fire: officials

One person was killed and another injured in a house fire late Friday night, Watauga fire officials said in a news release.

The Watauga Fire Department responded to a residence in the 6100 block of Mackneal Trail in Watauga shortly after 11 p.m. Crews could see heavy fire in the house and learned someone might be inside, according to the release.

Firefighters entered the home and began searching for victims. One person, who was found in a bedroom, died at the scene. Another person was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment.

The person who died hasn’t been publicly identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.

Fire crews from Haltom City and North Richland Hills also responded to assist Watauga, according to the release. The Tarrant County Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation into the deadly blaze.
