White Settlement motel fire displaces 150 residents, injures others
One resident was injured and about 150 others were displaced after a motel fire in White Settlement on Thursday afternoon, officials said in a Facebook post.
Fire crews responded to the Studio 6 motel at 7888 West Freeway at about 4:54 p.m. and found two third-floor units engulfed in flames, according to the post.
Police were already on the scene assisting with evacuations. Firefighters rescued one trapped person.
Two White Settlement police officers were taken to a hospital to be evaluated for potential smoke inhalation, officials said. One resident was also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor burns.
“Both officers are doing well and are in good spirits,” White Settlement police chief Christopher Cook said. “I am pleased to report that they are receiving excellent care from medical professionals.”
Several other residents were treated at the scene and released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the White Settlement and Tarrant County fire marshal’s offices. The Red Cross is assisting affected residents.
