Texas Health Resources will build a new hospital and medical campus in north McKinney, the health care system announced Tuesday.

The new hospital is expected to open in 2028, and will initially have 60 beds with plans to expand to accommodate for future growth, according to a news release. The hospital and a medical office building will be built on 51 acres of land near U.S. 75 and Laud Howell Parkway, the news release said.

The new hospital will include an emergency department, surgical suits, labor and delivery and neonatal intensive care unit.

“The pace of our expansion reflects the urgent need for accessible, quality healthcare in this flourishing region and our commitment to the North Texas community,” Barclay Berdan, the CEO of Texas Health, said in a statement. “This new facility will provide advanced medical care and emergency services to thousands of local families who deserve convenient, quality treatment close to home.”

The new hospital will serve the rapidly growing cities of McKinney, Anna, Melissa, Princeton and surrounding areas.
