North Texas will have a ‘Charlie Kirk Parkway’ to honor Turning Point USA founder
North Texas will soon have a Charlie Kirk Parkway, dedicated to the memory of the 31-year-old conservative activist who was assassinated last September.
Hood County commissioners will present a proclamation on Tuesday to dedicate Williamson Road, a two-mile rural road south of Granbury between Glen Rose Highway and Canyon Creek.
According to the meeting agenda, a dedication ceremony will be held at a later time.
Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA when he was 18 to get youth involved in politics, was killed on Sept. 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University.
“Under his visionary leadership, Turning Point USA grew into one of the most influential conservative youth organizations in the United States, with a presence on over 3,000 high school and college campuses, inspiring millions of young Americans to engage in civic life,” the proclamation reads.
“He was a steadfast voice for moral clarity and truth in public discourse, declaring that: ‘Truth is not relative. It is eternal, and it must be defended,’ and through this conviction, he inspired countless individuals to stand firm in their beliefs and uphold the foundational values of our republic.”
Dedicating a road in Kirk’s honor will ensure “that his legacy continues to inspire future generations.”
Last September, a county commission in Lake County, Florida, northwest of Orlando designated a Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway.
