Body of missing father recovered Sunday at Eagle Mountain Lake, authorities say
The body of a man who went missing Saturday at Eagle Mountain Lake after his boat overturned was recovered on Sunday, Aug. 24, Tarrant Regional Water District officials said in a news release.
TRWD law enforcement officers recovered the man’s body at about 3:25 p.m., according to the release.
The recovery took place near Crest Point on the southeast portion of the lake, in the area where the 50-year-old father had been reported missing and was believed to have drowned about 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, officials said.
The body has been taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for official identification.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens and the Eagle Mountain Fire Department assisted in the recovery efforts, TRWD officials said.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time,” TRWD officials said in the release.
Children were rescued following a boating accident
TRWD officials said they received a call at about 5 p.m. Saturday reporting two children who were floating in the lake and screaming for help. A nearby boater rescued the kids and reported the incident, officials said.
An investigation found that the children had been on the lake in a small watercraft with their father when the boat overturned, TRWD officials said Saturday.
Fort Worth police and Texas Game Wardens helped with the search.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, officials said.
