A 46-year-old man drowned at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie on Saturday morning, officials with the Grand Prairie Fire Department said.

The fire department responded to the lake about 11:20 a.m. after a witness reported the man had gone swimming off a boat and had not resurfaced, officials said.

The Grand Prairie Public Safety Dive Team conducted a search and recovered the man’s body.

The man was not wearing a life jacket, officials said. His name will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office after his family has been notified.

The Grand Prairie Fire Department urges people to wear a life jacket or other personal flotation device while in or near the water.
