A woman died after being struck by a car in Fort Worth early Friday, officials with the Fort Worth Police Department said.

Officers responded to a major accident call near the intersection of South Riverside Drive and East Powell Avenue at around 1:26 a.m. June 20, according to a statement. They found the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman had been in the roadway when she was struck, police said. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and the incident is being investigated.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as 39-year-old Tia Demece Star Packer, according to an online record.
