Roaches and rat droppings found at Dallas restaurants, health inspections show

Eight Dallas restaurants require a follow-up inspection and roaches and rat droppings were found at others, the city’s latest health inspection report shows.

According to city data compiled by the Star-Telegram, there were 177 restaurant inspections conducted between March 23-29.

Dallas uses a 100-point system in restaurant inspections. Scores of 90 to 100 are considered to be very good, and restaurant scores from 80 to 89 are considered to be good. Both require the next regular inspection to be in six months.

Restaurants scoring between 60 and 69 fail and require a follow-up inspection within 10 days or closure. During this inspection cycle no restaurant scored under 60.

During this inspection cycle there were no restaurants that were “unacceptable” or failed health inspections.

La Real Michoacana Ice Cream Parlor at 1401 S Buckner Blvd. Suite 111 had a follow-up inspection and the eatery scored 92.

The city health inspectors found roaches at the following restaurants:

Kanpai Coffee & Beer Garden at 215 Henry St. Score: 80

El Centro Supermarket at 8231 Park Lane. Score: 85

Hampton Food Mart at 3900 N Hampton Road. Score: 91

The Riverfront Cafe at 1919 S Riverfront Blvd. Score: 93

Health inspectors found rat droppings by the dry ingredient storage area in the kitchen at Me & Mom’s Diner at 5057 Singleton Blvd. The restaurant scored 80.

Eight restaurants scored between 79 and 70 in this inspection cycle and require a re-inspection within 30 days.

Sweet Georgia Brown at 2840 E Ledbetter Drive. Score: 75

Dunkin Donuts / Baskin Robbins at 14841 Coit Road. Score: 76

Restaurant Bar Coco-Loco at 1875 John West Road. Score: 77
