A 21-year-old woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on a North Texas highway early Thanksgiving morning, North Richland Hills police said.

Officers were dispatched to the 7100 block of Northeast Loop 820, near Iron Horse Boulevard, around 2:15 a.m. regarding a major accident, police said. The preliminary investigation shows a vehicle driving westbound in the eastbound toll lanes struck another vehicle head-on.

The 21-year-old victim died at the scene, according to police. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Clementine Manishimwe, of Dallas.

The suspect, a 45-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, police said.

The Accident Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Search Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. They will determine if criminal charges should be filed against the driver, according to police.
