2 of Trump’s North Texas nominees among Cabinet picks targeted by ‘unAmerican threats’
Two of President-elect Donald Trump’s North Texas nominees were among several Cabinet picks targeted by threats Thanksgiving week.
Brooke Rollins, Trump’s nominee to lead the U.S. Department of Agriculture, said on X Wednesday that “a threat was issued against our home and family.” She didn’t specify what the threat was but thanked the Fort Worth Police Department for their swift response.
“I want to express my deep gratitude to the law-enforcement professionals who did their utmost, in both speed and expertise, to protect us,” Rollins said in the post.
Scott Turner, nominee for Department of Housing and Urban Development secretary, said he received a bomb threat Wednesday.
“Nothing will shake my resolve to serve in @realDonaldTrump’s administration and bring much-needed change to @HUDgov,” the Richardson native posted on X.
Several other Cabinet nominees and administration appointees received “violent, unAmerican threats” the night of Nov. 26 and morning of Nov. 27, incoming White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. The threats ranged from bomb threats to swatting.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a statement Wednesday saying they were aware of the threats.
“We take all potential threats seriously and, as always, encourage members of the public to immediately report anything they consider suspicious to law enforcement,” the statement reads.
United Nations ambassador nominee Elise Stefanik, Department of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth and Environmental Protection Agency nominee Lee Zeldin also posted on X about receiving bomb threats.
