A Fort Worth police officer died on Friday after a battle with cancer, the department said in a post on X Saturday.

Officer Robert Fenner had been battling stage-4 colorectal cancer leading up to his death, according to a fundraising page set up for his family.

During that time, Fenner’s cancer metastasized and he suffered a stroke, which interfered with his treatment, according to the fundraising page.

“We express our deepest condolences, love, and support to his family, friends, and our FWPD family,” the department’s post said.

Fenner’s passing was one of two law-enforcement deaths in the metroplex on Friday.

The Irving Police Department announced the death of one of its officers, 38-year-old Jerome Scholz, in an off-duty motorcycle accident on Friday afternoon.

Funeral arrangements for Fenner are pending.
