A fatal accident on Interstate 30 near Broadway Boulevard involving an 18-wheeler closed the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-30 for several hours on Monday morning, according to Garland police.

Police said one person died in the crash, which was first reported about 3:30 a.m.

In an update about 9:40 a.m., police said all lanes have reopened.

Earlier in the morning, police had advised drivers to exit prior to approaching the area or find an alternate route.

The 18-wheeler reportedly hit a concrete barrier in the eastbound lanes and then crossed over to the westbound side of I-30.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
