Authorities have identified a 54-year-old man who shot his wife several times and then fatally shot himself Friday morning during an argument at a Fort Worth home.

The woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition Friday morning. Her condition was not available on Monday.

The man was David P. Richards of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website on Monday. He was pronounced dead at 9:55 a.m. Friday from a gunshot wound to his head and his death was ruled a suicide.

Fort Worth patrol officers were dispatched to a domestic related shooting just before 9:30 a.m. Friday in the 6400 block of Meadowbrook Drive in east Fort Worth.

A husband and wife had an argument that ended in a shooting, Fort Worth police said. Police did not release any information on what the argument was about.

The man shot his wife multiple times in the lower body before he shot himself, authorities said. He was pronounced dead in the home.
