Bedford police officer injured in rollover crash, officials say
A Bedford police officer broke some bones when his vehicle overturned in a collision Monday afternoon, police said.
Molly Fox, spokesperson for the Bedford police, said the officer was en route to a call with lights and sirens flashing when another vehicle collided with the police car.
The accident happened around 1:45 p.m at the intersection of Central Drive and Highway 183.
“We’re thankful he’s alert and receiving treatment for his injuries,” the Bedford Police Department posted on its Facebook page.
Fox said the name of the officer has not been publicly released.
It’s not clear if anyone else was injured in the accident, but Fox said there aren’t any charges anticipated.
Both the northbound and eastbound service road lanes were closed while police officers cleared the accident scene. The lanes were open by 4:15 p.m, officials said.
