A woman was in critical condition early Wednesday after being hit by a train in south Fort Worth, authorities said.

A woman was in critical condition early Wednesday after being hit by a train while walking on the tracks, authorities said.

The pedestrian, who was found on the north side of the Seminary Street bridge, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Fort Worth police, firefighters and MedStar responded to a call of a train striking a pedestrian just before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday near West Seminary Drive and Hemphill Street.

Once they arrived, officers found the woman near a bridge.

Fort Worth police are investigating the case as an injured person, and a Union Pacific Railway agent will be responding to the scene.
