With dangerous, icy roads overtaking North Texas, commuters were urged to stay home as a variety of businesses, school districts and services closed Thursday due to a winter storm warning.

The warning ended Thursday after it caused many cities to close their facilities and cancel services, including trash pickup.

The list below provides updates to when North Texas residents can expect their next waste collection.

City of Fort Worth

The City of Fort Worth did not have any trash pickups Thursday and will have a delayed start to pickups on Friday.

“Those with missed collections Wednesday & Thursday can set out extra bags next week to be picked up by a separate truck,” the city said.

Pickups will resume Friday with a delayed start.

The city is asking residents to remove any trash bins that are at the curb, if able to do so safely.

The city’s Environmental Collection Center was open Thursday, but other drop-off stations were closed.

City of Arlington

The City of Arlington suspended its late Wednesday trash and recycling collection services due to icy and dangerous road conditions.

The suspension of services continued Thursday.

“The landfill will also be closed. All Wednesday and Thursday customers will receive service on their next regularly scheduled collection day,” the city said.

Mansfield canceled garbage collections Wednesday and Thursday.

“Republic Services has confirmed that normal curbside trash and recycling routes will resume Friday, Feb. 25., with no expected delays,” the city said.

City of Keller

On Wednesday, Keller announced its Thursday pickups, residential and commercial, were canceled.

The city plans to resume collections on Friday but “warns that routes may start later and take longer than usual.”
