Fort Worth records 5 apartment, residential fires in night of metroplex-wide blazes
Fort Worth firefighters spent more than an hour combating a two-alarm fire in the city’s southwest side overnight Wednesday, according to a Facebook post from the department.
It was one of nearly a dozen fires reported in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex Wednesday night and Thursday morning on a windy night, according to KRLD radio.
A spokesman for the Fort Worth Fire Department did not immediately respond to a request for more information on the two-alarm fire, but KRLD confirmed a home was destroyed in Coppell, on a cul-de-sac near South Denton Tap Road and Sandy Lake Road
.
Wind gusts reached up to 35 mph from Wednesday night to Thursday morning. That made it more difficult for firefighters to battle the blaze when they arrived at the scene around 9 p.m, KRLD reported. While the home was destroyed, there were no known injuries from the fire.
Fort Worth Fire Department’s Twitter dedicated to live tracking of active calls recorded three residential fire calls, two apartment fires and one grass or brush fire in the last 24 hours. The department has not replied to a request for information about if anybody was injured or what caused the fires.
KRLD also reported four fires in Dallas and one fire each in Balch Springs, Hurst and North Richland Hills.
