Two North Texas men die from injuries in separate traffic accidents, police say

Two North Texas men died this week in separate traffic accidents in Hood and Somervell counties, according to troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A 47-year-old Granbury woman also was injured in one of the fatal crashes.

On Wednesday, 69-year-old David A. Hanks of Alvarado was killed when his truck was hit by an 18-wheeler that had been towing a semi-trailer on U.S. 67 in Somervell County, according to a DPS report.

Hanks’ truck had been stopped at an intersection when he attempted to cross U.S. 67, but his truck was hit on the driver’s side by the 18-wheeler. Hanks was taken to a Cleburne hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

The crash occurred just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 67 east of Nemo in Somervell County.

A 79-year-old Granbury man died Monday from injuries in a traffic accident in Hood County.

DPS officials identified the man who died as Charles E. Bolton.

A DPS preliminary report indicated that Bolton was driving west on Farm Market Road 2425 near Power Plant Court, and a 47-year-old Granbury woman was traveling east on the roadway when they collided head-on as they were negotiating a curve. The woman was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and her condition was not available.

The crash was reported just before 4 p.m. on Monday in Hood County.
