Fort Worth man killed in fiery, wrong-way crash on Interstate 30 in Arlington
A 35-year-old man died early Monday in a single-car accident in Arlington after police said he entered a closed HOV lane while driving the wrong way, heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 near Center Street, according to a news release.
The driver, identified as Marcus David McCarty of Fort Worth on the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website, died at the scene about 3:20 a.m, police said.
Police believe McCarty lost control of the vehicle, hit a concrete median and then struck a barrier near the 1900 block of East Interstate 30, according to the release. The 2021 Chevrolet Impala caught fire upon impact.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Police believe speed and intoxication likely were factors in the crash, according to the release.
