A motorcyclist was killed in a fiery crash Friday evening on I-35 in Burleson, police said.

Edgar Calhoun Pinson III, 66, of Burleson was identified as the victim by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. He died in the roadway, the medical examiner reported.

Burleson firefighters were dispatched around 6 p.m. Friday to the crash in the southbound lanes of I-35 near the Renfro Street exit, police spokesperson DeAnna Phillips said in an email. They found the motorcycle on fire, she said, and quickly extinguished it. Firefighters began performing CPR on the operator, who had fallen off the bike.

Crowley firefighters later arrived on the scene and helped the personnel trying to save him, Phillips said.

They pronounced him dead.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Pinson III lost control of the bike, Phillips said. He didn’t strike anything.
