Man standing outside big rig on I-20 struck, killed by passing vehicle, authorities say

A 65-year-old man from southeastern Texas was killed in Tarrant County early Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle as he stood by his tractor trailer on the side of a highway, authorities said.

Ronald Lynn Grant, of Village Mills, died around 6:30 a.m. at the scene of the crash, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. His cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries.

The crash occurred in the 11300 block of West I-20 in an unincorporated part of Tarrant County.

Initial reports indicate the man had parked his tractor trailer on the side of the road and exited his vehicle, according to Lt. Jennifer Gabbert of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. That’s when a vehicle reportedly struck him.

Emergency units were dispatched to the crash and arrived shortly after it occurred, Gabbert said.

The sheriff’s office hasn’t announced any arrests in connection with the accident.
