North Texan buys lucky scratch off ticket, walks away with $1 million prize

A Garland resident turned a $20 scratch off lottery ticket into a $1 million payout.

The resident, who chose to remain anonymous, recently bought a Million Dollar Loteria scratch off ticket at AJ’s Quick Trip, 202 S. Ballard Ave., in Wylie.

And he or she has claimed the prize, Texas Lottery officials announced Monday.

It was the second $1 million prize to be claimed in this game. The first $1 million prize claimed for this game was sold in Alvin.

The overall odds of winning any prize in this game is 1 in 3.31.

More than a dozen North Texans have cashed in lottery tickets for prizes worth $1 million or more this year, records show.

The names of those and other winners aren’t public because of a 2017 state law that lets Texans who claim lottery prizes worth $1 million or more remain anonymous.

The first Texas Lottery tickets were sold in 1992.
