Hurst girl missing for five days found in Austin, police say
A Hurst girl who had been missing for five days was found Tuesday in Austin, police said.
Mackinzy Sparks, 16, went missing early Thursday from her Hurst home near Campus Drive and Harwood Street.
Sparks was located by Austin police Tuesday and was safe, according to CBS DFW. Hurst police were not immediately available on Tuesday for further comment.
“She told me she was going to take her makeup off and was going to bed,” Sparks’ mother, Jennifer Avery, said Monday in a telephone interview. “No one has heard from her.”
Avery believes her daughter went missing sometime between midnight Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday and does not have her medications.
“She’s borderline suffering from personality disorders,” Avery said. “She has to have her medications.”
Avery, who lives in Hurst, said her daughter might be with a 33-year-old man who befriended her in June after the two met online. He was later charged in the case.
Avery said Colleyville and Hurst police have not been able to find the man in the past few days.
Her family also reported her disappearance to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
