A two-alarm fire caused minimal damage to the roof of an Arlington church on Tuesday, an Arlington Fire Rescue spokesperson said.

The fire at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in the 2000 block of New York Avenue was contained to the outside of the church and didn’t take long to contain, the spokesperson said Tuesday afternoon.

Due to hot weather conditions, fire personnel called for a second alarm to allow for additional crews at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and crews were working to minimize water damage to electronics inside the church, the spokesperson said.

No one was injured.
