Man pumping gas in Arlington shoots knife-wielding woman who attacked his car: cops
A man was pumping gas in Arlington early Monday when he shot a woman who attacked his car with a knife, police said.
Arlington police officers responded to the shooting about 4 a.m. in the 2600 block of East Lamar Boulevard, the police department said in a statement.
When officers arrived, they found a 58-year-old woman on the ground with a gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to a hospital in serious condition, police said.
Police said investigators spoke to witnesses and reviewed surveillance video and determined that the woman came to the gas station carrying a knife.
A man was pumping gas into a Jeep with his wife inside the car, when the unknown woman approached and began hitting the car with the knife, police said.
The man went to another vehicle parked nearby, and the woman followed him and began striking that vehicle with the knife, police said.
The man took out a gun and warned the woman, who continued to come toward him, police said. He then shot the woman in her leg.
Police said the man and his wife were not injured and remained on scene. No charges have been filed as a result of the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
