Four families displaced after severe storm tears roof off Arlington apartments
Four families were displaced when part of a roof was torn off an apartment complex in central Arlington during a sudden severe storm that moved through parts of North Texas on Tuesday night, officials said.
Arlington firefighters responded to the Avalon Apartments at 1215 N. Cooper St. for reported storm damage. A 10-foot by 16-foot section of the roof pulled away, according to department spokesperson Adam Evans.
Between four to six units received heavy water damage, Evans said. Mission Arlington responded to help the affected families.
No injuries were reported, according to Evans.
Several tree limbs in parts of Arlington were also reportedly knocked down during the storm. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth reported that photos on social media showed tree damage near Mayfield and Collins streets in Arlington, with branches about 4 inches in diameter snapped by the wind.
