An 18-year-old was killed Monday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a pickup truck, Arlington police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of South Cooper Street and Inwood Drive shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, April 14. They found the motorcyclist lying unresponsive on the street, police said.

The teen was taken to Medical City Arlington hospital for treatment. He died shortly after 4 p.m., according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. He has been identified as Michael Phu Alquisira.

Alquisira was driving southbound on Cooper Street when he hit the back of a northbound 2013 Dodge Ram that was turning left onto Inwood Drive. Speed hasn’t been ruled out as a factor in the crash, according to police.

Witnesses told investigators the motorcyclist was splitting lanes, which is illegal in Texas, and driving recklessly just before the accident, police said.

The Ram’s driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. She was uninjured and isn’t facing criminal charges, according to police. The crash is still under investigation.
