51-year-old motorcyclist dies after crash with SUV in Arlington, police say
A 51-year-old man riding a motorcycle collided with a SUV and died in Arlington on Tuesday night, March 11, police said.
Officers responded about 6;20 p.m. to the intersection of Eden Road and Golf Club Drive for the crash involving a GMC Acadia and a motorcycle, police said in a news release.
When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist lying unresponsive on the road. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Police said investigators determined the driver of the Acadia tried to turn left from the westbound lanes of Eden Road onto Golf Club Drive as the motorcycle, which was going east on Eden Road, approached the intersection. The two vehicles collided and the motorcycle rider was thrown from his bike.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, police said.
The driver of the Acadia remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation, police said. He told officers he did not see the motorcycle before the crash. He was not injured and is not facing any criminal charges, police said.
Officers later found narcotics in the pants pocket of the motorcyclist and have not ruled out the possibility he may have been intoxicated, police said. The release did not say what type of drugs were found.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the motorcyclist.
