A woman was hit and killed by a pickup truck on Interstate 20 late Tuesday night after her car stalled, Arlington police said.

Officers responded to the westbound lanes of I-20 near Matlock Road shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11. They found a woman lying unresponsive on the roadway and two vehicles at the scene, police said.

Witnesses told officers that the victim’s 2006 Ford Mustang appeared to have stalled on the highway and was sitting across two lanes of traffic, police said. Investigators believe the driver got out of the Mustang. She and her car were hit by a 2024 Toyota Tundra.

The Mustang’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. She will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Tundra’s driver had non-life-threatening injuries from the crash and was taken to a hospital, according to police.

No criminal charges have been filed in connection with the fatal accident, police said. Investigators don’t think the Tundra’s driver saw the Mustang before the crash due to weather conditions and the position of the car on the highway.

The westbound lanes of I-20 has since reopened after being closed to traffic for about four hours while crews cleared the accident.
