A fire destroyed a playground structure at Fort Worth’s Oakmont Park early Saturday morning, officials with the Fort Worth Fire Department said.

Fire crews responded to the park, located at 7000 Bellaire Drive South, and extinguished the fire, officials said.

The burned playground structure has since been removed and will be replaced, the Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department said.

“We understand how important this playground is to the Oakmont community, and we are committed to restoring it,” department director Richard Zavala said. “While this process takes time, we are making it a top priority.”

The parks department will provide updates on the park’s restoration, officials said.

Officials with the Fort Worth Fire Department could not immediately name a cause for the fire Saturday.
