Authorities are investigating a shooting Thursday night at The Parks Mall in Arlington that hospitalized two people, police said in a news release.

Investigators determined the shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. in a corridor near the mall’s ice skating rink. The incident started with a fight between two groups of people on an escalator near the ice rink. Shots were fired during the fight, police said.

No arrests have been made. Police said they are also investigating how and why the two wounded individuals were involved.

The mall is expected to reopen today for normal business hours.

Two people — a man and a woman — were shot and were sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The mall was evacuated and officers secured the building, according to the release.

The suspected shooter is still at large and officers are working with the mall to review security footage to help identify and find that person, police said in a press conference.

Detectives are working to determine if or how the two people who were wounded may have been involved in this incident.

A primary sweep of the mall was completed about 9:20 p.m. and officers were conducting secondary sweeps, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Parks Mall is expected to reopen for normal business hours on Friday.
